I was so excited to read this blog by Dr. Pan since "Mother to Son" is a poem that is included in our Holt anthology. I used the choral reading activity with my eighth graders, today, and was delighted at the number of "a-ha" moments that occurred as my students began to grasp the true meaning of the poem. I cannot wait to continue through the rest of this lesson!!
